The Library Director

What does the Library Director do?
The Library Director is responsible for the day to day administration of the library and for implementing the policies formulated by the Library Board. The Library Director attends all Library Board meetings. The Director acts as technical advisor to the Board, serving as the "library expert", informing the Board members about state and national library developments. The Library Director and the Library Board work together to develop a library that meets the needs of Portland.

To whom does the Library Director report?
The Library Director reports to both the First Selectman and to the Library Board and meets regularly with both.
